Indie.Yeshiva is a learning tool based on Open Source Judaism. Our goals are:

1) to engage Jews in creating their own Jewish identity

2) to provide educational materials and support for people on their spiritual journey

3) to provide a non-sectarian, egalitarian forum, facilitating open dialogue about Jewish issues and ideas between people

What We Believe:

In order to engage in Jewish learning, we must accept that the written Torah is the basis of Judaism. We believe that nothing should be "added or taken away from the Torah" (Devarim 4:2). However, we reject the idea that conversation is "taking away or adding from the Torah".

That all people can be teachers of Torah, no matter your background or beliefs: from atheists to ultra-orthodox, we all have ideas and beliefs that can be shared

That Jewish identity, like all other identities, is a fluid process that can change over time.

Conversation is give-and-take. Just as we expect others to be open and listen to us, we will be open to those whose opinion are different than ours.

We are no one special. We are people who want to bring the Light of the Torah to the people; to open the book for everyone to read and understand as best as they can.
